Delete contacts and companies safely
Understand retained deals, approval outcomes and refreshed record choices.
How to do it
- Deleting a contact removes the contact and clears its live contact link in retained deals. Company → Contacts is a built-in Cascade relationship: deleting a company also deletes its contacts. Deals stay independent unless you explicitly configure a Cascade relationship for them.
- For selected or object-wide deletion, submit the request and review it in Approval Inbox. Submission alone does not remove records.
- Review the execution result: deleted, blocked or failed, and remaining counts. A failed or partial deletion retains the affected records and shows each error. Old approvals with execution failures are also shown as failed.
- Resolve the issue and submit a new request for remaining records. Object-wide deletion processes one approved batch at a time.
- Return to Deals or reopen its editor to refresh available contacts and companies. Deleted IDs cannot be selected and saved. Trial login does not recreate deleted sample records.
Check your result
Confirm deletion in the source list and the approval result. A retained deal with an empty contact/company link does not mean the source record still exists.
Good to know
Orders, invoices and other commercial history are preserved. Delete deals separately only when you intend to remove those records.
